Replica Swords Have Personality

Jun 06, 2008 in Collectibles

I love collecting replica swords, especially those from the medieval era. I have an affinity for Viking swords, long swords, and claymores, although I do have a few rapiers and a mish mash of other blades that are historically accurate replicas. Certainly, replicas aren’t the only style of sword that I collect – I also have movie replicas, fantasy blades, and a katana or two. I can’t choose my favorite among the swords in my collection either. While it wouldn’t be like choosing, say, a favorite child, it is still nigh impossible. Each has their own personality. It’s true, no matter how hard it might be to think of a hunk of steel having personality. After all, people say their cars and motorcycles have personality so why not a sword? This is likely something you won’t understand until you begin your own collection and see how they fit into your life.

Yachting as an activity, pastime or used as a company tool is remarkably fulfilling. There are also particular sailing events that make it equally thrilling and can be something that the whole family are able to go & view simultaneously. One of the main weeks of the yachting diary is the Cowes Regatta Week; this yachting event takes place annual & has been operating since eighteen twenty-six which makes it the longest running yachting event today. With more than 700 ships and seven-thousand contestants playing a part, being studied by eight thousand spectators a day, Cowes week has achieved the name as 1 of the principal sailing business hospitality and public event of the total year.

The 8500 contenders range from Commonwealth and world class professionals to new sailors. Nevertheless, if you are not playing a part yourself, watching the sailing, taking pleasure in the get-togethers & live comedians, & to be involved in the unique atmosphere, makes it a one of a kind event.

With Ondeck Yachting School, two thousands and eight sees the initiation of their latest Regatta Division. Improving on their strong position in the yachting and sailing charter marketplace, this has seen Ondeck Yachting, run numerous fashionable sailing events for businesses, they have recently united with Britannia Events, the main organisers of industry sailing events in the UK.

The path of the race itself will fluctuate each time as features such as the climate state of affairs, tidal torrents and pace of each rank of sailing yacht is taken into making the final decision. A normal Cowes Sailing Event has over thirty five start offs a day for rivals of cruiser racers, one designs & keelboats; totalling over a 1,000 boats. In this time the Solent which is a considerably busy industrial waterway, is overflowed with powerboats of all categories and is particularly vibrant in colour owing to the boats spinnakers. As talked about before in addition to the yachting events the week contains a huge number of onshore events including live music and cocktail parties. From private or commercial residential parties and nominally private sailing organisations and boats, there are full-sized marquees erected in the ports giving out canapés & wine. Fantasy and Swords, Still Popular After All these Years

May 01, 2008 in Collectibles

One of the most popular types of fiction available on bookshelves today is the fantasy genre, and I have to tell you, I couldn’t be happier. Since I was a little boy, this was one of my favorite types of stories to read, and the largest part of that was probably because I liked to read about magic and great heroes wielding fantasy swords needed to stop some dark lord or wicked sorcerer. From tales by Robert E. Howard and Fritz Leiber to the epic fantasy stories of Tolkien, I could never get enough. Today, novels by Terry Brooks (The Shannara series), R.A. Salvatore (creator of the dark elf Drizzt Do’Urden), and Holly Lisle continue to please fans and imaginations around the world. Every day, more and more novels are being published, and I’m sure that there are plenty of kids out that that will grow up into sword collecting adults such as me!

Is Final Fantasy the Best Videogame?

Apr 09, 2008 in Collectibles

What is your favorite videogame series? I can just about hear the debates starting already. Some of the Nintendo faithful are adamant that The Legend of Zelda series has no rival, while the shooters are going on and on about the intricacies of Halo and Gears of War. I like them all. I’m a videogame junkie, and it is just about impossible for me to choose my favorite. If you ask me today, it would probably be the Final Fantasy series of games. They simply have some of the best game play, cut scenes, and characters ever created for a videogame. There is a depth that most games just don’t have. I think another reason I love those games and the movie so much are the weapons. The final fantasy swords are cool, and I think my favorite is the double bladed sword Kadaj wields in Advent Children. It is almost too cool for words.
